About LED

LED Technology offers many advantages to consumers...

Light Emitting Diode

LED stands for "light emitting diode." A diode is an electrical component with two terminals which conduct the electricity only in one direction. With an electrical current, the diode emits a bright light around the small bulb. Typically, diodes have been used in many technologies such as radios, televisions and computers as an electrical component for conduction.  More recently they have become the product of choice for lighting applications.  From their low running costs, to extensive operating lives and instant start up, LED lights are all the rage and for very good reason.

Ultra-Low Maintenance

ECOLight products provide an extensive lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours. This equates to decades when operated in normal applications. LEDs are so low maintenance, they are almost zero maintenance. There is no special fittings required and the LED doesn't need to be changed like regular filament or fluorescent lights. These units are also more vandal resistant than other forms of lighting.

Cool Running Temperature

ECOLight products have exceptionally low operating temperatures, again making them super efficient to run. Conventional lights use up to 95% of their energy in producing heat and only 5% in creating light, LEDs are very different, they run cool and therefore use their energy consumption on creating the light you require.

High Lumen Output

ECOLight products can offer more than twice the efficiency of other light sources because of the high lumen output they have in relation to the watts used. ECOLights are perfect for use in sensor applications or anywhere that instant light is required because they do not need to heat up first and are not affected by switching on and off.

Environmentally Friendly

ECOLight products contain no mercury or other dangerous materials and therefore can be disposed of safely in the landfill. The added bonus of LED products is that they last so much longer than any other technology, the need to dispose of them is far less which also helps reduce waste.
