LED light is light that is produced from a light emitting diode, which is a semiconductor light source. Although LED technology has been around for years (in use in mobile phones, TVs etc.) the technology has only recently broken through the barrier of being able to emit enough light to be used as a luminaire.
Traditionally LED has cost more, but as technology and manufacturing costs have been improved the cost of LEDs has also reduced to a place where the pay back period is down to a matter of months. LEDs can use up to 90% less electricity than incandescent lights which offers savings on your electricity bill too.
Not necessarily. The ECOLight range has been carefully selected to ensure that the cost of retrofitting is kept to a minimum, our lights can simply replace your existing lights with a minimum amount of fuss.
Depending on the fitting you’re replacing and the amount of time your lights are running you can save up to 90% of the energy you have been using.
They are estimated to last around 50,000 hours which is about ten to fifteen years (about 50 times longer than incandescent lights) depending on how long they are running each day.
No. Our LEDs use chip technology and therefore don’t require Mercury or any other harmful materials that other technologies rely on. The solid state of LEDs means no discharge, gas, filaments or direct environmental impact is associated with them, and they last so much longer than other technologies we end up with less in the landfill too.
No, LEDs are an instant light, when you flick the switch they come on as bright as they will be the entire time they’re burning.
